BATTLE RIVER SCHOOL DIVISION (BRSD) is seeking applications for the following position due to a retirement:

POSITION: DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION SERVICES (FTE 1.00)

LOCATION: Division Office, Camrose, Alberta

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Director of Education Services to join our team. This position will lead and support major portfolio areas including professional learning, educational technology, alternative and off-campus programming, and career education, while also contributing to division assurance planning and reporting processes such as the Annual Education Results Report. The role supports the implementation of BRSD frameworks and practices in literacy, numeracy, and outcome-based assessment and reporting, while maintaining a strong in-school presence to support administrators and teachers.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree or higher in Education;
  • Minimum of 5 years of principalship or other administrative experience;
  • A track record of success in the management of people and highly developed team-building skills;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;
  • In-depth knowledge of educational policies, frameworks, and regulations;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-informed approach to decision-making;
  • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and program coordination;
  • Bilingual proficiency is considered an asset;
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Develop strategic plans and budgets for portfolio areas, ensuring alignment with BRSD’s priorities as outlined in the Education Plan;
  • Understand and apply the Assurance Framework to inform school division planning efforts;
  • Analyze provincial and local assurance measures to contribute to the development and presentation of the Annual Education Results Report;
  • Develop and monitor the division's Professional Development Plan, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities;
  • Develop and implement programming and supports for educational technology;
  • Develop and implement programming and supports for alternate programs, off-campus education, and career education;
  • Support the implementation of the Division’s Numeracy and Literacy Framework;
  • Support outcome-based assessment and reporting;
  • Demonstrate a high level of in-school presence and provide ongoing support for teachers and school administrators;

Other duties will be assigned in relation to the strengths, experiences, and training of the successful candidate.
Responsibilities also include working with Senior Leadership to provide leadership for the division, while collaborating with other system leaders across the province. This full-time position, based out of the division office in Camrose, is out of scope and will require membership into the College of Alberta School Superintendents. Travel is required.

This position will commence on August 10, 2026, or on a mutually agreed-upon date.
